Superdrug Vitamin E Facial Toning Mist

I love the idea of mists – refreshing skincare-on-the-go and cooling in the summer heat. But, always on a budget as I am, I had to go about finding the cheapest ones out there and see if they were any good…

Superdrug’s Vitamin E Toning Mist contains, besides the obvious, Aloe Vera, Horse Chestnut, and Vitamins A, B, F and H, for moisturisation and protection from pollution and other environmental damage.

It is great for makeup-less days where you need a refresher. I haven’t tried it on with makeup yet, but I don’t think the bottle sprays fine enough for that. If you decide to try this in a finer diffusing spray bottle and with makeup, tell me how that went!
When sprayed onto the skin, it feels like a lotion in liquid form. My face doesn’t feel sticky, per se, but it definitely feels as though something is sitting on top. Whether this is due to my oily skin or not, I can’t tell.

I can imagine myself using this at 2pm on Saturdays when I have woken up and gone straight to my desk to work, not even sparing a thought for my skin until about lunchtime.

I recommend holding this at arm’s length to avoid ‘drenching’ yourself instead of ‘misting’ yourself – it takes a bit of practice, as the spray head does not spray it fine. The smell is very pleasant.

I’m not complaining too much because this was £2.99 – total bargain, as is the rest of the Vitamin E range (I really want to try the moisture mask!) . Looking forward to trying some more products from their range. In terms of other affordable toning sprays, Boots also has a spritz, with rosewater, that I would like to try, too.

In all honesty I haven’t seen any noticable changes to my skin from using this apart from the cooling and moisturising effect. If you have oily skin it might just end up sitting on top of the skin so watch out for that.

Edit: 2016 Update

After pretty much a year of using this toning mist I have some things to share! I still use it regularly. Funnily enough, reading this review again, I don’t notice any stickiness anymore. Wonder why that is? I tend to use this on my dry, just-cleansed skin to stop it from getting too dry, or as a wake-up spray in the summer. I switched out the spray pump with one from Muji which I would highly recommend if you need a finer spray. Anyway, this is still a must in my skincare collection and I’ll be repurchasing this once I am out!
